Employee turnover

• Employee turnover dropped to 15% after increasing by 6% to 17% in 2022, which was the highest level seen to-date (we began tracking the workforce profile in 2019)
• Turnover has dropped back to 2021 levels in Executive and Adult Services after a spike in 2022
• For the remaining directorates turnover has remained on a par with last year (within 4 percentage points)
• The decrease in Adult Service’s turnover is the biggest driver of the decrease in overall turnover

The employee turnover rate for the Adult Services directorate was 11% in 2019, 9% in 2020, 14% in 2021, 24% in 2022 and 13% in 2023
The employee turnover rate for the Culture Leisure and Regulatory Services directorate was 13% in 2019, 12% in 2020, 17% in 2021, 24% in 2022 and 21% in 2023
The employee turnover rate for the Public Health directorate was 15% in 2019, 8% in 2020, 5% in 2021, 18% in 2022 and 17% in 2023
The employee turnover rate for the Children Families and Education directorate was 12% in 2019, 8% in 2020, 10% in 2021, 17% in 2022 and 17% in 2023
The employee turnover rate for the Corporate Services directorate was 10% in 2019, 9% in 2020, 12% in 2021, 14% in 2022 and 12% in 2023
The employee turnover rate for the Housing, Neighbourhood and Building Services directorate was 10% in 2019, 11% in 2020, 9% in 2021, 13% in 2022 and 12% in 2023
The employee turnover rate for the Finance and Resources directorate was 6% in 2019, 6% in 2020, 6% in 2021, 10% in 2022 and 8% in 2023
The employee turnover rate for the Portsmouth International Port directorate was 9% in 2019, 7% in 2020, 4% in 2021, 9% in 2022 and 13% in 2023
