  • 17% of parents/carers of children/young people aged 13+ ‘agree’ or ‘strongly agree’ that their child/young person can manage their own money. Those with vision and/or hearing difficulties are more likely to agree with this statement (35%) than those with other need types (caution low base)
  • Almost a third ‘agree’ or ‘strongly agree’ that their child/young person can cook a meal (either independently or with help). There are no big differences in terms of type of need overall, however half of those with vision/hearing or physical needs ‘strongly disagree’ with this statement

5% of respondents whose child has a social, emotional or mental health need strongly agree that their child or young person can manage their own money whilst 8% agree, 17% neither agree nor disagree, 39% disagree and 32% strongly disagree.
3% of respondents whose child has a communication and interaction need strongly agree that their child or young person can manage their own money whilst 8% agree, 17% neither agree nor disagree, 38% disagree and 34% strongly disagree.
