Benefits of the School Street

• The main benefit experienced is that the area feels safer (52%)
• 44% each think that the School Street feels nicer and that there are more people walking in general
• 41% each think that it is easier to cross the road and that there is more space to walk, wheel, cycle and scoot in the School Street zone
• Those selecting ‘Other’ are mainly expressing concerns about the scheme which will be explored elsewhere in the findings
• 23% say that they have not experienced any benefits since the School Street has been in place
• For parents, the top three benefits experienced are that the area feels safer, there’s more space to travel actively within the zone and it’s easier to cross the roads. 88% of parents experienced some kind of benefit from the School Street.
• For residents, the top three benefits experienced are that the area feels safer, there are more people walking in general and the school street feels nicer. These are all experienced at lower levels than for parents. Almost a third of residents (29%) have not experienced any benefits from this list, whilst 21% select ‘other’. Those selecting ‘other’ amongst residents are universally expressing concerns
