- The majority of parents ‘strongly agree’ that since the cars were removed from their school’s street they feel that is safer for their child to travel along the street ‘with an adult’ (70%)
- Support for this statement is more mixed when parents are asked to consider their children’s safety whilst walking, cycling or scooting/ skating ‘without an adult’, with just under half of parents agreeing with this statement in some capacity (‘strongly agree’ – 21%, ‘agree’ – 26%) and a marked increase to over a third for those that disagree (‘strongly disagree’ – 13%, ‘disagree’ – 22%)
- Respondents who did not have a child attending either of the two schools also answered the question, with 70% ‘strongly agreeing’ that it is safe for children to walk, cycle, or scoot / skate ‘with an adult’ while the cars are removed
- Half of respondents agree in some capacity that it is safe for children to travel ‘without an adult’ (‘strongly agree’ – 40%, ‘agree’ – 10%), but nearly a third ‘neither agree nor disagree’ (30%)
- The majority of parents from St Jude’s ‘strongly agree’ that their school street is safer for their children ‘with an adult’ (67%) and just under half agree in some capacity that the street is safe to walk ‘without an adult’ (‘strongly agree’ – 17%, ‘agree’ – 28%)
- The results for Bramble are much more divergent, with 91% ‘strongly agreeing’ that the school street is safer to walk ‘with an adult’, and 45% ‘strongly agreeing’ that it is safe ‘without an adult’
