Sex

Females are far more likely than males to be employed part-time (+10%),whilst males are far more likely to be retired (+16%).

Disability

Residents without a disability are more likely to be employed full-time (+20%) whilst more of those with a disability are unable to work (+8%) or likely to be retired (+9%).

Housing status

Those renting from a local authority are most likely to be unable to work (+23%), unemployed (+5%), looking after family/home (+8%), or in education (+9%).

Ethnic group

Residents from an ethnic minority are more likely to be unable to work (+13%) and very few describe themselves as retired (3%).

Those from a White ethnic group are much more likely to describe themselves as retired (+19%) and more likely to be working (+10%).

Household income

Those with the highest incomes are much more likely to be working full time (>76%). Those on the lowest incomes have the smallest proportion working full time (9%) and are the most likely to be unable to work (26%), unemployed (6%), looking after the home (6%) or retired (38%).

Children in household

Households with children are more likely to be in full time (+4%) or part-time (+9%) work or in education (+7%), whilst a higher proportion of those with no children are retired (+25%).
