Preferred way of sharing views

• Online surveys and consultations remain the most popular way to share views; on top of the 45% who currently share views this way, around a fifth would also like to take part in these (21%). 16% would like to submit formal comments or suggestions, a similar proportion to those who do so already
  Whilst just 4% currently share views via community events or forums, an additional 13% would be interested in these. On the other hand, whilst  15% of residents currently make complaints, just 6% would prefer to share their views this way.

11% would prefer to share their views through social media comments or messages, while 10% currently do so.
6% would prefer to make a complaint, while 15% currently do so.
2% would prefer to share their views through telephone surveys, while 1% currently do so.
4% would prefer to share their views in another way, while 1% currently do so.
42% said they are happy with the current way they share their views.

Sex

Females are more likely to be interested in online surveys or consultations (+6%) whilst males are more likely to prefer to contact their local councillor (+6%).

Age

Residents aged 25-44 are more likely to be interested in online surveys and consultations (27%-30%) or submitting a formal comment or suggestion (21%-22%). Those aged 25-34 are more likely to prefer sharing views via social media (20%).

Residents aged 55-64 are more likely to want to contact their local councillor (20%).

Ethnic group

Residents from ethnic minority groups are more likely to be interested in sharing views via formal comments or suggestions (26%) or contacting council officers directly (19%).

Postcode

Residents living in PO1, PO3, and PO5 are more likely to want to participate in community events and forums to share their views (16%-21%).

Those in PO1 are more likely to be interested in online surveys or consultations (28%), whilst those in PO3 express interest in submitting a comment or suggestion (26%) and those in PO5 are more likely to want to contact their local councillor (17%)

Housing status

Housing association renters are less likely to feel satisfied with how they currently share views; they are more likely to be interested in online surveys and consultations (along with private renters), submitting formal comments or suggestions, or community events or forums.

Local authority renters are more likely to want to contact council officers directly, whilst property owners are more likely to prefer to contact their local councillor and private renters to use social media comments or messages.
