Sex

Females are far more likely than males to be employed part-time (+10%),whilst males are far more likely to be retired (+12%).

Disability

Residents without a disability are more likely to be employed full-time (+22%) whilst more of those with a disability are unable to work (+15%) or likely to be retired (+12%).

Housing status

Those renting from a local authority are most likely to be unable to work (30% or looking after family/ home (6%), whilst those renting from a housing association are more likely to be employed part-time (27%). Both are more likely to be unemployed (5-7%).  

Ethnic group

Residents from an ethnic minority are more likely to be employed full-time (+25%).

Those from a White ethnic group are much more likely to describe themselves as retired (+15%) and more likely to be working part-time (+5%).

Household income

Those with the highest incomes are much more likely to be working full time (>72%). Those on the lowest incomes have the smallest proportion working full time (6%) and are the most likely to be  unable to work (9%), unemployed (6%), retired (40%), or self-employed (17%).

Children in household

Households with children are more likely to be working full time (+21%) or part-time (+9%). Those with children aged 5-15 years are most likely to be working full-time (71%) and those with children aged 0-4 years part-time (26%).

A much higher proportion of those with no children are retired (+24%).
