BSIP: Business summary

Summary:

• A total of 32 respondents from 28 different businesses responded to the business survey. There was a wide range of businesses who took part in this consultation
• Over half of respondents work in a primarily ‘business to consumer’ way (57%), and just under a third (32%) operate ‘business to business’
• ‘Other’ answers include a combination of relationships with both business and consumer (11%)
• Seven respondents are from wholesale and retail trade, the most represented industry. Others are from a range of industries; including information and communication, transportation and storage, and public administration, and defence
• The largest proportion of respondents (38%) report that their business has between ‘0 and 9’ employees
• Over a fifth of respondents report that their business has ‘over 250′ employees (24%) or between ’10 and 49’ employees (21%)
• The smallest proportion of respondents report that their business has between ’50 and 259′ employees (17%)
• Over three-quarters of respondents were from businesses located in the PO1 to PO6 postcode districts (77%)

This chart shows that seven respondents are from wholesale and retail trade, the most represented industry. Others are from a range of industries; including information and communication, transportation and storage, and public administration, and defence. Some industries are not represented in the survey, such as water supply, real estate, mining, and quarrying – the respondent selecting ‘other’ is from the Community Rail Partnership.
