Desired services

Participants were asked what they would like to see more of in terms of services for LGBTQ+ people.

• A hostel/refuge where people can go if disowned by family
• A trustworthy person to talk to
• More support workers
• Home visits
• 24/7 online chat support
• Hate crime hotline or other assistance in reporting hate crime
• Help people to be kind
• Come into schools and help educate others
• More training on EDI and hate speech for everyone

• Confidential support that takes the cultural context into account
• Ambassadors from ethnic minorities who can act as go-betweens for families
• Culturally aware advocates to facilitate access to health care services or other LGBT support services
• Church liaison officer (from similar ethnic background) to help bridge the gap between the individual LGBT person and religious beliefs in the family
• Longer term familiarisation support for families

• More workshops and work with schools to promote education and information for teachers and pupils
• Educating the public
