How often drivers turn off their engines

• Drivers are switching off their engine less compared to Wave 1 results – around a fifth of respondents are turning off their engine ‘all the time’ when stationary (22%) compared to over a quarter (26%) doing so in Wave 1
• Around one in ten drivers ‘never’ turn off their engine when stationary (11%); this has increased since Wave 1 and are more likely to be males
• Respondents over 65 years are more likely to turn off their engine ‘all the time’ (28%) compared to their younger counterparts
• Drivers who are aware of the ‘150 balloons’ campaign are more likely to switch of their engines ‘around half of the time’ than those who are not aware
