Respondent quotes:

I’m asthmatic and it is only when I leave the city that I realise how much easier it is to breath elsewhere…I sleep better, run better, feel more energised…when I come home it takes me a couple of weeks to stop wheezing and my body to reaclimatise [sic] to the bad air and I then start to forget that my health could be so much better 🙁  I think I will die earlier than I need to by living here.

Lack of clean air particularly on/around main roads has a big impact on those who live in roadside/nearby housing. It’s not something you can control so as well as impacting on physical health it impacts on mental health due to the noise/vibration and increases stress levels.

I believe the long-term effects are life shortening. It is very unpleasant to be outside when the air pollution is bad in the city.
