Impact of car club ownership on private car ownership

• Respondents who would consider joining at present are most likely to consider getting rid of their vehicle if they were to join a car club (46%)
• Only 17% of those who would consider joining a car club in the future would consider getting rid of their vehicle if joining a car club, this cohort have not however written off getting rid of their vehicle, they are just more likely to want more information before making a decision (60%)
• Households with two or more cars who would consider joining a car club at present are more likely to consider getting rid of their vehicle than those with just one car (+6 percentage points)
• Males considering joining a car club at present are slightly more likely to consider getting rid of their vehicle (+4 percentage point difference), whilst females are more likely to not consider getting rid of their vehicle (+4 percentage point difference)
• Respondents aged 45+ are most likely to consider getting rid of their vehicle if joining a car club at present
• The majority of respondents who would consider joining a car club and who have a vehicle registered to their address in St Jude would consider getting rid of their vehicle (52%), followed by Central Southsea (49%), Milton (48%), St Thomas (40%), and Eastney & Craneswater (40%)
