- The highest proportion of respondents support a 3% increase in council tax (30%), followed by 28% of respondents supporting a 2% increase
- An equal proportion of respondents support a 1% increase and no increase (21%)
- When the results are viewed as a binary choice as ‘increase council tax’ or ‘do not increase council tax’ – there is a clear majority support for an increase (79% of respondents)
- A higher proportion of females prefer no increase to council tax compared to male respondents
- A 3% increase is strongly favoured by males (43%), compared to just 23% of females
- Younger respondents are more likely to support ‘no increase’ in council tax compared to respondents in older age groups (35% of 25-34 year olds favour no increase compared to 10% of those aged over 74 years)
