Proposed licence conditions: agreement

Summary

  • Of the total sample, almost three quarters of respondents (72.5%) ‘slightly’ or ‘strongly agree’ with the proposed licensing conditions
  • Over four fifths of local residents (83%), tenants in an already licensed HMO (86%), and local residents neighbouring a HMO (81%) ‘slightly’ or ‘strongly agree’ with the proposed licensing conditions
  • Three quarters of tenants in a non-licensed HMO ‘slightly’ or ‘strongly agree’ with the licensing conditions
  • Just under two thirds of non-HMO landlords (63%) and HMO landlords (60.5%) ‘slightly’ or ‘strongly disagree’ with the proposed licensing conditions
  • Of respondents who ‘slightly’ or ‘strongly agree’ with the proposed licensing conditions, over a tenth feel they are necessary/ basic standards (13%), and 8% feel they would ensure safety and protection
  • Of respondents who ‘neither agree nor disagree’ with the proposed licensing conditions, over a tenth feel they are unnecessary/ existing guidelines are suitable (14%)
  • Of respondents who ‘slightly’ or ‘strongly disagree’ with the proposed licensing conditions, nearly a quarter feel they are unnecessary (23%), with over a tenth feeling the conditions are too restrictive (12%)
