Accessibility of buses and bus stops

• Bus accessibility was rated poorly by 22% of the sample, and accessibility of bus stops was rated poorly by 18% of the sample
• Bus accessibility was most likely to be rated poorly by those with a disability/ those caring for someone with a disability (25%) and those with financial hardships – this also holds true for those who rated bus stop accessibility poorly (29%)
• For those rating accessibility of buses poorly, access to the on-board area for those with a disability was the biggest issue (at 61%), followed by buses not dipping (38%), and the entrance not being wide enough (30%)
• For those mentioning bus stop accessibility, buses not stopping at the raised access kerb was a key issue at 49%, as well as lack of accessible bus stops (29%) and bus stops not having a raised access kerb (28%)
• Temporary bus stops were also mentioned as an issue by 25% of those rating bus stop accessibility poorly
